Abstract Painting | Own it and Name it Yourself
Background:
As an aspiring artist, I’m surprised that I have arrived at this abstract painting of flower and lamb images symbolising springtime in the UK.
I only watched painting techniques through YouTube videos and the blowing technique using hairdryer got me interested in risking one canvas that my partner bought after seeing my potential as a painter and especially my love for art.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a hairdryer so I used my mouth to blow the paints I poured on random areas of the canvas. Surprisingly, our vacuum cleaner came into my view while I was blowing paints towards its direction and knew it blows air when it’s pressed. It did work but I was controlling the amount of air impact on the paints so I can create nice figures out of it. At some point, I have to use again my mouth to blow areas that I think the vacuum cleaner may ruin if I didn’t get the right amount of air control. I was amazed it created a flower-like figure resembling a kind of flower I’ve seen before called the golden trumpet. What a coincidence that the trumpet image can also be associated with people’s rejoices during springtime!
With my amazement, I can’t get my eyes off this painting while it’s still in drying time. It took me a quite and quiet while before I found another interesting lamb-like figure in portrait orientation. Although this painting can also be viewed in landscape orientation, portrait makes it easier for the audience to interpret what it is in a quick glance.
