Landscape Painting | Sunset at Marine Lake | A View from Knightstone Weston-super-Mare
Background:
This is my first seascape painting. It’s a memorable place as whilst I was casually strolling along the dry pathway suddenly the tide started to come in. I was in the middle of the barrage and my first concern was to avoid my treasured training shoes from getting wet. So I stood watching the waves gently encroach. The tide, however, doesn’t stop for my shoes unfortunately and I soon had to stride through the waves. I think the sea level rose above my ankles but in my mind as I panicked I felt as if it was above my shoulders. I did the painting before this experience but maybe if I painted it after the sea would have a less tranquil feel to it! See photos in my posts.

Abstract Painting | Rejoice in Spring
Background:
As an aspiring artist, I’m surprised that I have arrived at this abstract painting of flower and lamb images symbolising springtime in the UK.
I only watched painting techniques through YouTube videos and the blowing technique using hairdryer got me interested in risking one canvas that my partner bought after seeing my potential as a painter and especially my love for art.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a hairdryer so I used my mouth to blow the paints I poured on random areas of the canvas. Surprisingly, our vacuum cleaner came into my view while I was blowing paints towards its direction and knew it blows air when it’s pressed. It did work but I was controlling the amount of air impact on the paints so I can create nice figures out of it. At some point, I have to use again my mouth to blow areas that I think the vacuum cleaner may ruin if I didn’t get the right amount of air control. I was amazed it created a flower-like figure resembling a kind of flower I’ve seen before called the golden trumpet. What a coincidence that the trumpet image can also be associated with people’s rejoices during springtime!
With my amazement, I can’t get my eyes off this painting while it’s still in drying time. It took me a quite and quiet while before I found another interesting lamb-like figure in portrait orientation. Although this painting can also be viewed in landscape orientation, portrait makes it easier for the audience to interpret what it is in a quick glance.

Mixed-Styles Abstract Painting | A Table of Life
Background:
This is the first mixed-styles and textured abstract painting that I have made. Abstract plant-like image in the vase represents life itself. The apple and bottle of wine images symbolise food for a living. Different painting techniques were used to create this work of art that most painters don’t make due to its complexity. It required patience and hope that it will come this way as perceived.

Seascape Painting | A View from Brean Down with Steep Holm and Flat Holm
Background:
This is a spring-inspired painting of a local scenery found in Weston-super-Mare, in England. I and my partner went for a walk to this National Trust during my tourist visit in 2018. It’s a serene place where you can relax and breathe in fresh air. But since we walked until the end of this lengthy and steepest hill we’ve been, we chose to make our own ‘shortcut’ way of going back to the top of the hill. We’re surprised by the thorny brambles and when we’re halfway to its peak, we thought that usual way of getting back is better than making a new trail. But it’s too late to go back as it gets dark soon, so we pursued the adventure and made it to the top.

Landscape Painting | Flower Field Trees
Background:
This is my second landscape painting – a painting request of my sister. She sent me a photo of a similar scenery. But because I don’t want to copy everything in the photo, I put my own stamp on it. I put several colourful flowers of different varieties, but of course, tulips, which is my favourite, dominated the bottom part of this scenery.

Landscape Painting | Philippine's Mayon Volcano
Background:
This is my second painting on a canvas. Mayon Volcano is one of the famous active volcanoes found in my country, Philippines, and one of the 7 Wonders of the World. It’s widely known for having a perfect cone figure and stunning fuming peak. From home, I can see its hypnotising beauty. It always capture my attention while I was driving to and from school or even when going to different places near it. I think, it’s the most loved dangerous thing in our place for people can still see the beauty in it despite it’s disastrous behaviour. See my photos with it in my post.

Landscape Painting | Moongazers
Background:
The moon seems very close, twice bigger than it looks from Philippines with the realisation of lover’s courtship lines in Tagalog, ‘Susungkitin ko ang buwan para lang makamit ang matamis mong Oo.’ Although it’s just a hyperbole, it seems possible in some other ways. Why not? Take your lover to the moon instead! You’ll definitely have her sweetest, big, fat YES! Oh, with an extra S! YESS!

Mixed-Styles Abstract Painting | Hypnotic Underworld
Background:
This is my third abstract painting. I combined several painting techniques in order to arrive with this unique work of art. Others would say it’s hypnotic which I agree as when you stare at it, you’ll be attached to it for a quite while as if you’re looking for something in the deepest part of it.. It feels like the middle part is sort of dragging you to enter a mysterious underworld with different exit points. To some, it might look as blooming flowers on a green field and blue sky or some kind of extraordinary coral reefs in the deep blue green sea. Several interesting perspectives can be drawn from this painting. You might have one, so get it, and name it yourself!

Mixed-Styles Abstract Painting | Nature's Spring
Background:
This is my fourth abstract painting. I felt a sense of freedom on this piece as I enjoyed splashing of the different colours in the canvas and employed different styles of painting. Apparently, it gives a floral abstract design or nature’s spring if you like.

Landscape Painting | Yellow Field I've Seen but Never Been
Background:
Inspired by David Hockney’s colourful paintings, I decided to paint a yellow field similar to one of his paintings. I have seen yellow fields before departing UK in my tourist visit in 2018. How about buying this so it will take me there, paint in the middle of the field and this time it’s from the ‘looking’, a word by Hockney, rather than from an ‘imagining’ point of view.

Geometrical Abstract Painting | Complicated
Background:
This painting took me four days to finish. As the picture shows, it’s complicated. Like life, it’s turned upside down, full of struggles, full of challenges. This painting has challenged my patience and determination to finish what I have started. What a relief when I see the result of my hardship – a vibrant, colourful geometrical abstract painting.
